The Melville Millionaires snapped a two-game skid Thursday night with a 1-nothing win over the Kindersley Klippers.
The opening period was scoreless but physical, highlighted by a major checking-to-the-head penalty and game misconduct to Kindersley’s Jacob Dennis. The game’s only goal came late in the second, when Yi-Bin Yoo jumped on a loose puck in the slot and snapped home his fourth of the season at the 14-23 mark.
Matthew Spencer-Dahl made it stand up, stopping all 25 shots he faced to record his second shutout of the year. Kindersley netminder Brett O’Halloran turned aside 15 of 16 in defeat.
The two teams wrap up their season series Friday night in Kindersley, with puck drop set for 7-30.
Elsewhere in the SJHL, the Battlefords North Stars exploded for five goals in the second period on their way to a 9-5 win over the Weyburn Red Wings.
Anthony Campbell and Josh Knittig each had two goals and two assists for Battlefords, while Callas Pierce and Drew Molde scored twice for Weyburn. Will Munro chipped in five assists in the loss.
