Something that’s always been a bit of a head-scratcher for me, why do streaming services, especially Netflix, remove their own original movies and shows? For example, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, a big favourite among my friends, is leaving next month and everyone’s pretty bummed about it.
Every now and then, shows will get a new home. Remember when the Netflix/Marvel series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc. moved over to Disney Plus? That was a relief for fans! But for lesser-known titles, they can just disappear. I’m still hoping to see DJ Cinderella pop up somewhere, but so far, no luck. Even if something has that big “Netflix Original” tag, it doesn’t always mean Netflix gets to keep it forever. Sometimes they only have the rights for a few years, and then the titles are gone.
Honestly, it makes me miss the days of DVDs. Back then, if you loved a movie or show, you could just buy it and keep it for good. With so many Netflix originals, there’s no DVD to buy, just a waiting game to see if they’ll ever come back. Until then, rewatch your favourites and make sure to keep your eyes pealed for that fateful “Leaving Soon” banner.
