The City of Melville will soon see a change in leadership within its Community Services department.
After 12 years with the city, Chris Bruce has announced he is stepping down as Director of Community Services to pursue a new opportunity in Alberta.
During his time with the municipality he started out in the public works department before moving on to his new role where he was responsible for the operation and development of parks, recreation facilities, and community initiatives, helping guide long-term planning and day-to-day services.
The city has thanked Bruce for his years of service and says details regarding a transition plan will be communicated at a later date.

Melville City Council has reviewed the City’s 2025 Year-End Safety Report, which highlights ongoing gains in workplace and community safety.
Staff completed more than 200 training sessions, and 21 safety incidents were reported—an increase attributed to better awareness and reporting. No serious injuries occurred. Most incidents were minor and tied to winter conditions or equipment use, with follow-up actions taken in each case.
The City also expanded community programs, including Positive Ticketing, fall‑prevention education, youth safety initiatives, and the launch of Voyent Alert.
Officials say safety remains a priority heading into 2026.
