The Yorkton Terriers picked up their second straight victory Tuesday night, defeating the Estevan Bruins 4–1 at Westland Arena to improve to 3–1 against Estevan this season.
Yorkton opened the scoring late in the first period on the power play. Captain Tylan Henrikson finished off a crisp cross-ice feed from William Leonard, tapping into an open net for his fourth goal of the season to give the Terriers a 1–0 lead after twenty minutes.
The Terriers doubled their advantage midway through the second period, again on the power play. Gavin Barth kept the puck in at the point and fired a shot that was initially stopped, but Aidan Vallance pounced on the rebound and buried it to make it 2–0.
Estevan responded before the end of the middle frame. SJHL leading scorer Ewan Rennie found linemate Rylan Williams, who converted to pull the Bruins within one, trailing 2–1 heading into the third.
Yorkton put the game away in the final period with goals from Ryder McDonald and Vinay Junek to seal the win.
Terriers goaltender Callum Creig turned aside 19 of 20 shots to earn his 14th win of the season, while Bruins netminder Dylan Adams made 39 saves in the loss.
Yorkton returns to action Friday night to open a three-game road trip in Nipawin. Estevan is also back in action Friday as they host the Melfort Mustangs.
Elsewhere in the SJHL on Tuesday, Lucas Schmid scored twice for the second straight game — including the game-winner late in the second period — as the Bunge Division-leading Weyburn Red Wings defeated the Humboldt Broncos 6–4.
Zach Bansley scored twice for Humboldt in the loss.
