Swan River to look at alternative options to improve traffic flow and safety at intersection of Highways 10 & 83

After a majority of residents gave a thumbs-down to a potential roundabout at the intersection of Highways 10 and 83, the Town of Swan River will explore other alternatives.

Town Council met with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure Jan. 19, for an update on a public consultation held Dec. 16, on potential changes to the intersection.

Council made MTI aware that after the majority of public feedback was against the proposed roundabout, they don’t support moving ahead with that option, as a way to improve safety and traffic flow.

Instead, MTI has committed to look at other options, such as putting in a timing sequence, that would allow left turns from the intersection, while holding back oncoming traffic, while avoiding the need to install a median.
