It was a big week for the Yorkton Terriers, with three of the team’s top players earning league-wide recognition.
Forward William Leonard was named SGEU MVP of the Week after a dominant stretch that helped Yorkton pick up four of a possible six points in three games in less than three days. Leonard’s impact was felt at both ends of the ice, highlighted by a four-goal, five-point performance in Nipawin. He has been red hot to start 2026, recording points in all but one game so far this year.
Jye Zawatsky was named Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week following another strong showing for Yorkton’s top line. The Yorkton native has been a key playmaker, piling up assists early in the second half of the season. He recorded a career-high five points in Sunday’s win over La Ronge and has become one of the league’s most productive setup men.
Gabriel Courchesne, now the league’s second-leading scorer, was named Bourgault Forward of the Week after multi-point outings in each of Yorkton’s three weekend games, including his first career SJHL hat trick Sunday in La Ronge. The 19-year-old from Drummondville, Quebec, has been remarkably consistent all year and is a big reason the Terriers remain a tough opponent for any team.
Elsewhere in the SJHL, weekly honours went to Raydr Wallington of Nipawin, Kason Kobelka of Melfort, and rookie Owen Chapman of Humboldt.
