WADENA – Wadena RCMP have charged a man after multiple firearms and other weapons were seized from a residence on Fishing Lake First Nation.
Police say officers obtained a search warrant and searched the home on Jan. 21, following an investigation that determined firearms were being possessed illegally.
During the search, officers located and seized nine firearms, more than 450 rounds of ammunition and three crossbows.
An adult male was arrested near the residence for breach of a conditional sentence order.
As a result of the continued investigation, 30-year-old Wyatt Desjarlais of Fishing Lake First Nation is charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count of unsafe storage of firearms, both under the Criminal Code.
Desjarlais is scheduled to appear in court in Wynyard on Jan. 22.
