I’m not going to lie — I got a little excited when the calendar flipped to February. And sure, part of that excitement comes from knowing we’re inching closer to longer days and warmer weather. But if I’m being honest, it’s mostly because baseball is back this month.
Pitchers and catchers report to camp next week already, which always feels like the true sign that winter is starting to loosen its grip. Before you know it, the first full squad workout will be happening on Monday, February 16th, and suddenly spring doesn’t feel all that far away.
I can’t wait for the season to kick off, especially with the hope I’m carrying for the Toronto Blue Jays this year. I really like the additions to the lineup, and on paper, this team feels stronger and more balanced. There’s still time to see if they need one more piece or two to fully complete the puzzle — but that’s what trades are for, right?
I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but I do expect another trip to the playoffs. That’s as bold as my predictions will go for now. I’m just hoping this is the year they can finish what they couldn’t last season.
Either way, February has arrived, baseball is in the air, and optimism is officially back.
Go Jays Go.
