The Swan Valley Stampeders stayed hot Friday night, winning their fourth straight and eight of their last nine with a 4–2 road victory over the Portage Terriers at Stride Place.
After a scoreless opening period, Swan Valley broke through 7:33 into the second when Dylan Ruff jammed home his third of the season off a cross-ice feed from Crosby Harrison. Portage answered five minutes later as Beck Bethard set up Trevor Hill, who wired his league-leading 31st to tie the game 1–1 after two.
The Stampeders took control in the third. Karson Connelly’s point shot was tipped in by Reis Nyland for his second of the year to restore the lead, and just 2:26 later Aidan Grant struck on the power play with what stood up as the game-winner.
Hill made it interesting with 2:36 left, going top shelf for his second of the night, but Zach Hertz sealed it with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Easton Falls was sharp again in the Swan Valley crease, stopping 37 of 39 shots. Logan Cunningham made 29 saves in the loss for Portage.
The Stampeders go for a fifth straight win Saturday in Winkler.
