Winnipeg Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a fatal two-vehicle crash on Canada Day of last year, north of Swan River, that left three people dead.
On July 1, 2025, Mounties say 37-year-old Matthew Govereau was allegedly driving on Highway 10, near Road 224 North, when his vehicle crossed over the centre line, hitting a vehicle parked on the opposite shoulder, fatally injuring a 42-year-old man and 31-year-old woman in that vehicle, along with a 29-year-old man riding in Govereau’s vehicle.
Manitoba RCMP say Govereau was arrested Saturday in the Manitoba capital.
He is in custody, scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Feb. 17, facing a total of 18 charges, including three counts each of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and careless driving, as well as drug, weapon and stolen property charges.
