What a night. What a game. What a moment for Yorkton hockey.
Game 7s always carry that extra buzz, but this one? It had everything.
In front of 2,177 fired-up fans at Westland Arena, the Yorkton Terriers delivered when it mattered most, skating away with a 6-3 win over the Battlefords North Stars and punching their ticket to the league final.
The Terriers didn’t waste any time setting the tone. They came out flying, feeding off the crowd’s energy, and built an early 3-0 lead that had the building rocking. You could feel it—this team meant business.
But as any hockey fan knows, nothing comes easy in a Game 7.
Battlefords pushed back hard, slowly chipping away until suddenly, just like that, it was a 3-3 tie after two periods. All that early momentum? Gone. It set the stage for a third period that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
The kind where every shift feels massive. Every shot feels like it could decide the season.
And then… the breakthrough.
With just under four minutes to go, the Terriers found the back of the net, sending the crowd into a frenzy and giving Yorkton the lead when it mattered most. From there, they locked things down and sealed it with a pair of empty netters to put an exclamation mark on a 6-3 final.
Game over. Series over. On to the final.
Now, the next chapter awaits as the Terriers gear up to face the Flin Flon Bombers in the league championship series. It all gets underway Friday night, and you can catch every moment right here on GX94 with Benny Walchuk on the call.
If this Game 7 was any indication, we’re in for one heck of a final.
Buckle up.
