The Melville Millionaires are sending a pair of graduating players to the next level, with defenceman Wesley Golden and forward Matthew Edwards both committing to U SPORTS programs for the 2026–27 season.
Golden, a 20-year-old from Grande Prairie, is headed to Ontario Tech University. The 6-foot-5, 216-pound blueliner brought size and edge to the Millionaires’ lineup, recording 12 points and 125 penalty minutes over 69 regular-season games across two seasons, while adding a goal and 16 penalty minutes in 11 playoff appearances. He finishes his junior career with 196 games played across the SJHL, AJHL, and BCHL.
Edwards will join Trinity Western University after a strong all-around season. The Saskatoon product posted 25 points in 49 regular-season games and added a playoff goal, while totaling 31 points in 68 SJHL contests during the 2025–26 campaign between Melville and Weyburn.
A former second-round pick of the Kindersley Klippers in the 2020 SJHL Draft, Edwards also made his mark off the ice, earning the Millionaires’ RBC Community Ambassador honour for his work with youth hockey and local schools.
