Spring has officially made its presence known, and wow—what a difference a couple of days can make. It feels like we went from deep winter to puddles, patches of grass, and flowing water almost overnight. The snow has been disappearing in a hurry, and even though there’s talk of a bit more on the way, it’s safe to say it won’t be sticking around for long.
With all that melting comes something we know all too well around here—spring runoff. The kind that turns quiet creeks into rushing streams and low spots into temporary lakes. Cheryl from Foam Lake shared a couple of videos of Milligan Creek pushing its limits, running strong through town and spilling over in places. It’s both impressive and a little nerve-wracking to see just how quickly things can change.
But if there’s one thing that stands out every spring, it’s how communities come together when it matters most. Huge credit to everyone who showed up to lend a hand filling sandbags and helping protect homes and property. That kind of teamwork is what gets people through these situations.
As always, we love seeing what’s happening in your area. If you’ve got photos or videos of the spring melt or runoff, send them our way on the GX94 textline at 306-783-8622. It’s a great way to keep everyone in the loop and share what’s going on across the region.
To those dealing with flooding or keeping a close eye on rising water—hang in there. Spring might be a little messy at times, but it’s also a sign that warmer, brighter days are just around the corner.
