It’s starting to feel like a bit of déjà vu, isn’t it? Just when you think we’ve turned the corner, just when you step outside and feel that warm air and start believing spring has finally planted its flag… you wake up and there it is again. Snow. Not much, just enough to remind you who’s been in charge for the past several months.
This morning’s dusting didn’t exactly shut things down, but it didn’t need to. It had a message: “I’m still here.” And honestly, that’s the frustrating part. Last week gave us a real taste of what we’ve been waiting for—milder temperatures, a bit of sunshine, the kind of weather that gets you thinking about lawn chairs and barbecues. It felt like we were in the clear.
Apparently not.
It’s only May 5th, which, if you’ve lived around here long enough, you know still leaves the door open for a few more surprises. But that doesn’t make it any easier. At this point, I think we’re all just craving colour again. Real colour. Green grass, leaves on the trees, flowers starting to pop—anything but the dull, washed-out tones of a landscape that just won’t fully wake up.
There’s something about this time of year where patience really starts to wear thin. Winter has overstayed its welcome, spring is dragging its feet, and we’re stuck in this in-between phase that just feels… blah.
But there is a bright spot.
We’ve already picked up most of our outdoor plants and flowers. That in itself feels like a small victory—like we’re getting ready for something better, even if Mother Nature hasn’t quite signed off on it yet. They’re sitting there, waiting for their moment, just like the rest of us. And when the time finally comes to put them outside for good, it’s going to feel that much sweeter.
So for now, we wait. We roll our eyes at the random flurries, keep an eye on the forecast, and hold onto the hope that one of these mornings we’ll wake up and winter will finally, officially, be gone.
And when that happens? I don’t think anyone will miss mornings like this one.
@gx94radio Nasty Mother Nature, are you almost done playing with us? -Danny #spring #weather #maysnow #gx94 #mothernature
