Great news for visitors with mobility issues, wishing to visit Yorkton’s historic Brick Flour Mill
The Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society has received a $40-thousand grant comes from the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program, presented by the Rick Hansen Foundation, in order to improve accessibility and inclusivity.
The grant program was created as a way to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Hansen’s “Man in Motion” world tour.
The Brick Mill Heritage Society will use the money to install a wheelchair lift, that will move passengers from the Brick Mill’s new Interpretive Centre, to the first floor of the mill itself, allowing visitors with mobility issues to more easily access the first floor of the mill, where historic mill machinery and photos are on display.
The lift is to be installed by mid-summer.
