East Central Saskatchewan athletes delivered several podium performances at the 2026 Saskatchewan High School Provincial Track and Field Championships in Saskatoon over the weekend.
Esterhazy’s Payton Lamb captured gold in Junior Girls Discus, while Yorkton Regional’s Hunter Nagy raced to gold in the Senior Boys 100 metres.
Among the silver medalists were Yorkton Regional’s Chase Morrison in Intermediate Boys Shot Put, Kipling’s Lachlan Cowan in Intermediate Boys Javelin, Carlyle’s Dane Peterson in Senior Boys Shot Put, Fort Qu’Appelle’s Jaxon Schaeffer in Junior Boys 100 metres, Melville Comprehensive’s Davian Brown in Intermediate Boys 200 metres, and the East Central Senior Boys 4×100 metre relay team.
Brown was one of two multiple-medal winners from the region, adding a bronze medal in the Intermediate Boys 100 metres. Yorkton Regional’s athletes also had a strong showing, with Hunter Nagy winning gold, while Daxton Davis earned bronze in the Junior Boys 100-metre hurdles, Eddie Baron took bronze in the Senior Boys 3,000 metres, and Amer Thomas captured bronze in the Senior Boys 200 metres.
Other bronze medalists included Churchbridge’s Sawyer Sawchuk, Langenburg’s Luca Lauer, Melville Comprehensive’s Wyatt Dubiel and Gradey Halyk, Invermay’s Cassidy Bosovich, Canora’s Maddy Dutchak, Preeceville’s Levi Maier, Wynyard’s Riley Chepil, and the East Central Intermediate Boys 4×100 metre relay team.
The provincial championships concluded Saturday in Saskatoon.
