The fifth and final season of The Bear just dropped this Thursday, and you better believe I binged all eight episodes in one day. With six episodes clocking in at about 30 minutes and the last two at an hour each, it’s a quick, bingeable watch. The story jumps almost right back where we left them, picking up the very next day after season four, and the whole thing really feels more like a movie than a typical TV season. Whether it’s the way the story flows or how it’s filmed, there’s definitely a cinematic vibe to it.
Without giving away any major spoilers, season five does a great job of giving us closure while still leaving some questions hanging. *Very mild, not really plot relevant spoiler ahead* There’s a particularly fun moment with Pete (Sugar’s husband) and Donna (the Berzatto’s mom) when Donna spots a photo of Carmy and Sidney and asks, “So what’s their deal? Are they dating?” Pete’s response, “I don’t think so? But there’s definitely some theories.” It was a perfect little nod to all of us fans who have been shipping Carmy and Sidney, even if the show’s writers said it would never happen. *Mild spoiler over*
Season five is a real return to form for The Bear. It brings back all the heart, chaos, and anxious energy the show is known for, mixing in enough humour to break up the tension just when you need it. After five seasons, it’s clear that The Bear is a drama at its core but never forgets to sprinkle in those moments of comedy that make you laugh out loud. The finale has the right balance between tying things up and letting us imagine what’s next, making it a satisfying end to one unforgettable family.
