I can’t remember the last time we’ve seen this much rain before July in my lifetime. While moisture is always welcome on the Prairies, there comes a point where enough is enough, and many communities across our region have reached that point.
There are so many people dealing with flooding, waterlogged fields, and damaged roads, and unfortunately, it isn’t over yet. We’re under another rainfall warning today with even more rain expected. Throughout the morning we’ve been getting messages about highways and grid roads with water flowing over them, along with culverts being washed out. Conditions can change quickly, so if you’re heading out on the road, take it slow and be extra cautious. You never know when you might come across a washout or flooded section of highway that wasn’t there just a few hours earlier.
As frustrating as this weather has been, we’re hoping Mother Nature can finally turn things around. It would be nice to kick off July with some sunshine, warmer temperatures, and a chance for everything to dry out a little.
If you’re seeing flooding, washed-out roads, or you’ve been keeping track of your rainfall totals, we’d love to hear from you.
