Dauphin RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify two suspects who used a stolen utility vehicle to rip an automated teller machine from a local business earlier this week.
Officers responded to a commercial alarm at a business on the 1400 block of Main Street at about 4:50 a.m. on July 13.
Police say two individuals drove up to the building in an orange utility task vehicle (UTV) and smashed a window. The suspects then pried the front door open by connecting a strap to the UTV, hooked the strap to an ATM inside, dragged it out of the business and fled the scene.
Investigators say the UTV, an orange 2012 Kubota RTV 900XT with Alberta licence plate UTZ62, was stolen the night before from a nearby business on Main Street.
Surveillance video captured images of both suspects. Police describe one suspect as wearing a black hooded sweater with a white Reebok triangle logo on the front, along with a dark-coloured mask and gloves.
The second suspect was wearing a full-face ATV helmet with what appeared to be a “V” or “VH” written on the side.
Anyone who can identify the suspects or has information about the theft is asked to contact the Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5020. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
