Weekends always seem to fly by, but this one was exactly what I needed. It was a great mix of relaxing and getting a few things accomplished around the house.
With the heat sticking around, the backyard was definitely the place to be. The family spent plenty of time in the pool trying to stay cool, and we wrapped up one of the evenings with one of my favourite summer traditions—a fire and wiener roast. There’s just something about sitting around a crackling fire with family that helps you slow down and forget about everything else for a while.
By Sunday, I figured I had relaxed enough and it was time to tackle a little yard work. I grabbed the hedge trimmer and cleaned up the bushes in the front yard. There was one shrub that had been looking pretty weak for quite some time, so I finally decided it was time for it to go. After cutting it out and cleaning everything up, I couldn’t believe how much it opened up the space. Sometimes a small project can make a big difference.
I won’t lie, though—it was a hot one! The yard work took a little longer than expected because I made sure to take plenty of breaks to cool down and rehydrate. No sense trying to win a battle against the summer heat.
Now it’s back to another busy week, but after a weekend filled with family time, a relaxing fire, and checking a few jobs off the to-do list, I’m feeling recharged.
How was your weekend? Did you spend it relaxing, tackling projects, or trying to stay cool?
