Are you starting to think about a winter getaway yet? I definitely have.
I can tell I’m getting older because I seem to appreciate the heat a little more every year. There was a time when winter didn’t bother me nearly as much, but now the thought of escaping the cold, snow and wind for a little sunshine sounds pretty fantastic.
I’m not sure what we’ll do yet or where we’ll go, but I do know one thing: it will be warm! Give me some sunshine, a pool, a beach and temperatures that don’t require me to check the windchill before I walk outside, and I’m happy.
Honestly, I think living on the Prairies should automatically come with a winter getaway. It should be part of the deal! You live here, you put up with the snow, the cold, the wind, the shovelling and those mornings when your vehicle doesn’t want to start. The least we deserve is a little sunshine in return. Consider it a thank you for surviving another Prairie winter. Haha!
I have started looking at different options, and while we haven’t made any decisions yet, I’m already getting excited. One of my favourite parts of planning a trip is actually the anticipation. There’s something about looking at destinations, cruises, or checking out hotels, imagining yourself sitting somewhere warm and thinking, I can’t wait to be there.
Sometimes I think the anticipation is almost as good as the getaway itself.
Life is too short not to enjoy it, and if we have the opportunity to escape winter for a little while, why not? I’m ready for some sunshine, some relaxation and a break from the Prairie cold.
Now I just need to figure out where we’re going!
