Dylan Ruff is off to a flying start in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
The Swan Valley Stampeders forward was named one of the MJHL Stars of the Week after putting together a six-point opening weekend, scoring four goals and adding two assists in two games.
Ruff helped Swan Valley sweep its home-and-home series with the Northern Manitoba Blizzard to open the season. He scored a third-period hat trick in Friday’s season opener to help the Stampeders secure a big road victory, then followed that up with another goal and an assist in Saturday’s home opener.
The second-year forward currently leads the MJHL in scoring.
Joining Ruff among the league’s Stars of the Week is Selkirk Steelers forward Noah Paulsen.
The 2007-born forward also had four goals over two games, adding an assist for five points as the Steelers picked up a pair of wins over Dauphin.
Neepawa Titans forward Addison McIntosh rounds out the weekly honourees after an impressive four-goal performance Sunday against the Portage Terriers.
McIntosh scored all four of Neepawa’s goals, including the overtime winner, to give the Titans their first victory of the season.
He opened the scoring with two goals just 25 seconds apart before adding a shorthanded marker late in the third period. After Portage tied the game to force overtime, McIntosh slipped behind the defence and buried the winner on a one-timer
