The Waywayseecappo Wolverines pulled off a wild comeback Friday night, scoring five times in just over six minutes of the third period to stun the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-3 at the Swan River Centennial Arena.
Swan Valley looked to be in control for most of the night, taking a 1-0 lead in the first period when Same Grunewald finished off a feed from Hunter Toth just 5:32 into the game.
The Stampeders doubled their advantage on the power play in the second. Wylie Smith made it 2-0 at 12:58, with assists going to Jake Giacobbo and Trace Langan.
Dayson Martin then appeared to put the game out of reach, scoring at 10:24 of the third period to give Swan Valley a three-goal cushion.
But the Wolverines completely flipped the script from there.
Blake Farthing got Waywayseecappo on the board at 13:02, before Max Collyer cut the deficit to one at 15:15.
Carter Haney tied the game at 16:35, and just 33 seconds later, Ian Buors scored to put the Wolverines ahead 4-3.
Buors added an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left to cap a remarkable five-goal comeback.
Waywayseecappo outshot Swan Valley 20-9 in the third and 43-38 overall.
Urijah Moosetail made 35 saves for the Wolverines
The Wolverines have now won three straight and will be back in Swan River Tuesday night for a rematch with the Stampeders, while Swan Valley looks to rebound on Saturday hosting the Winnipeg Blues.
