My hibiscus plant is going crazy, and I’m certainly not complaining!
I had it outside for the summer, thinking it would absolutely love the heat and sunshine. It did alright, but it never really produced many flowers. Once the temperatures started cooling off, I brought it back inside for the winter.
We’ve had this plant for a couple of years now, and it’s always done pretty well both indoors and outdoors. But I never would have guessed that it actually prefers life inside!
This morning, I counted 10 beautiful flowers on it, with even more getting ready to bloom. I’ve never had that many flowers open at one time before. It’s absolutely loaded with buds, and it looks like it’s getting ready to put on quite a show.
The only downside is that each flower seems to last only about a day before it’s finished. But with so many buds waiting to open, hopefully there will be plenty more to enjoy over the coming weeks and months.
I love seeing it thrive indoors, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it continues this way all winter long.
There is something pretty special about having a tropical-looking plant blooming away in your home when it’s cold, snowy and miserable outside. It reminds me of Hawaii, and who couldn’t use a little bit of that during our Saskatchewan winters?
I’ll take a little piece of Hawaii right here at home any day!
